Topic: How to Rescue a Troubled Project - Winning Strategies and Tactics
Synopsis:
Part 1 of this two speaker session will explore trust, what compromises it and what strengthens it. Drawing from Brent Peckover's personal experience turning around projects across the globe, which resulted in tens of millions of dollars in follow-on work for his employer and clients, he will discuss actions you can take to build/re-build trust with stakeholders and how these can be used to drive the project towards a successful conclusion.
Part 2 of this the session will center around the reasons why high-functioning meetings can be used as a powerful enabler for project managers to build collaborative partnerships, and to drive successful project results. Participants of this session will explore their untapped potential that could be accessed through thoughtful meeting planning and execution.
Bio(s):
Brent Peckover is the founder of Peckover Enterprises Inc., an organizational growth firm that helps companies and social profit organizations refine their value proposition to facilitate the development and implementation of effective strategy. He is the primary facilitator of the online leadership development initiative at GoSucceed.me.
Registering his first business at 16 years old, Brent grew up thinking that soft skills were secondary to technical skills. STEM is in his blood. He learned how to program a computer at the age of 7 (in 1981) and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Aeronautical Engineering (a.k.a. Rocket Scientist).
“My perspective on the importance of soft skills changed during my early technical roles. The quality of leadership and management within the team were a direct indicator of the team’s future level of success. I still believe technical skills and creativity are critically important. However, effective leadership and management is equally crucial and can be a competitive edge.”
Subsequently, Brent transitioned into Program Management and developed a knack for turning around troubled programs while re-building client relationships. Leading internal development programs and external custom design projects for clients across North America and around the world for the last 15 years has provided Brent a treasure trove of first-hand leadership stories.
