Northern Ontario Community: Mine Project Management System
Synopsis:
Knowing and understanding a projects desired outcome is the key to having a successful project. Defining the measure of success (i.e. impact on key performance indices) is just as critical and they help define the desired outcome.
Internal and external constraints and risks must be monitored, and plans adapted to achieve the desired outcome. It’s important that the style and tools used for project management for mining and exploration projects, provide increased reactivity and high visibility into project progress and costs. Following the principals of continuous improvement from the onset of a project is the path that will provide the highest probability of a successful project.
Monitoring and controlling scope, cost and schedule without management of risk, environment, social and governance will guarantee project failure.
As a Geological Engineer and PMP with an MBA, with significant practical mining experience, Mark Frayne has a lot of accumulated knowledge to share.
Learning Objectives:
This presentation will introduce characteristics of a mining project in the context of describing a system for mine project management. Mining projects have similarities but also difference from other projects some of those include high capital costs, risk and results that are often tied to production. This presentation should address your needs if you are interested in, better understanding mining, in mining project management or want to see some concepts that you could innovatively apply to other project types.
