Speakers:
Del Cordeiro, Principal, Project Manager
With more than 30 years of project management, design and construction review experience and as a lead to Senior Management Teams I have experienced working on a diverse range of project types including private sector commercial, residential, institutional, retail, mercantile, entertainment / Sports Complexes, Federal, and complex mixed-use developments since joining ZAS Architect.
My journey in architecture started in the print room at Petroff Partnership Architects back in 1988 I quickly advanced with-in the firm to the role of job Captain. After a minor stint with another firm I joined ZAS Architect in 2002 as a Senior Technologist and quickly earned my promotion to an Associate in 2008 and principal in 2015.
As a Senior Project Manager and Principal I have taken on many of my firm’s commercial, institutional, office and multi-tenant interior fit-out project responsibilities including but not limited to: Budgets, retaining consultants, schedules, Contract Administration Documents, design coordination, construction drawings, specifications, prepare contracts (CCDC), contract administration, chair client meetings during design and construction, chair consultant coordination, chair construction meeting and many other responsibilities.
In 1973 our family General Contracting business was established and provided me an excellent technical background in construction methods, procedures and providing me my technical background for design detailing, the ability to review and provide option on site to address any concerns or issues. Throughout the years I have experienced the role of a general contractor and on-site Construction Manager having acted in that capacity for various clients, including adidas, Toronto Transit Commission, and the Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat.
My experiences with Ed Sackfield Arena started well before the inception of the project. I spent many a night in the Arena dressed in Black and White Stripes and getting yelled at by coaches and fans. I have been a Minor Hockey Official since 1992 and my passion for the game made this project special to me.
Alan Murphy, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, CPHD
As a founding partner of Green Reason, Alan brings over 25 years of architecture, interiors, project and construction management experience in the building industry. Alan’s experience ranges from managing commercial redevelopment and national construction programs to providing sustainable consulting services on projects ranging in size from small cafes to airport terminals.
If you can design and build it better why wouldn’t you? This is a principle that Alan has carried throughout his 25 year career. Moving from Architecture to Project and Construction Management Alan gained extensive experience in the building industry but grew disillusioned with the “business as usual” approach to commercial building design and construction
Believing that change in the industry required education from within, Alan founded Green Reason to offer clients smarter, more sustainable building solutions. With passion, a strong work ethic, knowledge, integrity and attention to detail he built the reputation of Green Reason as a firm that takes the success of client’s projects to heart.
In addition to his role as principal at Green Reason, Alan was a founding director of Passive House Canada and is a current member of the Canada Green Building Council’s Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group and the University of Waterloo Faculty of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council.
