Learn how to effectively use your skills to do good, better by bringing the project management toolkit into the social sector. In Canada, over 200,000 social ventures face a number of unique challenges in the sector, including duplication and under-investment in human capital. Pro bono opportunities allow you to leverage your career to drive impact and discover new models to marry purpose and profit.

Biography:

Narinder Dhami, Managing Director, LEAP | Pecaut Centre for Social Impact

LEAP drives impact by scaling breakthrough social ventures, unlocking talent across the private sector (with BCG, McCarthy Tétrault, H+K Strategies, Offord Group, EY and Google) and helping donors allocate capital most effectively.

Narinder has been recognized as a BMW Foundation Responsible Leader and formerly sat on the Global Council for Pro Bono. She is the founding Executive Director of Rise Asset Development, where she designed and scaled a Rotman/CAMH microfund. Narinder has worked across West Africa, growing the Première Agence de Microfinance across Burkina Faso, Mali and CI and deploying impact investments to social enterprises across Ghana and Nigeria with Acumen. She currently teaches at Ryerson University in Social Innovation and Social Finance.

She holds a MBA from the Rotman School of Management, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto in Electrical Engineering.

Narinder is a recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 award (2019), which celebrates up-and-coming Canadian leaders from across all sectors and industries.

Kate Banting, Marketing and Social Impact Manager, BCG

Kate currently leads social impact and marketing for the Canadian offices of BCG. Prior to her current role, she spent 6 years on the consulting side at BCG engaging with clients across a variety of sectors including Social Impact, Travel, Consumer Goods, Retail, and Financial Services.

At BCG, Kate leads and supports social impact initiatives across a range of topics including measuring impact, diversity, education, youth development, mental health, social entrepreneurship and community engagement. Kate is currently on the Board of Directors for The Child Development Institute, an accredited children's mental health agency in Toronto that is focused on developing innovative programming.

Kate holds an MBA, with honors, from Harvard Business School and an HBA degree, with distinction, from Richard Ivey School of Business. While at Harvard, Kate was actively involved in the Social Enterprise Initiative and was an Education Pioneer Fellow for BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) where she supported a new revenue model.
