Healthcare Branch - Big Bang & Beyond: Nuggets of wisdom from the Project Manager’s Experience during an Epic Implementation
Synopsis:
Project managers from the implementation team in the Epic Program will share the benefits from their experience in one of the largest clinical transformation projects at SickKids.
In June of 2018, SickKids went live with the big bang implementation of a new Epic information system. The system fundamentally changed the way SickKids now provides care, helping the hospital significantly improve efficiencies, enhance patient safety and access to patient information, while creating a more seamless care experience for children and their families.
Biography:
Chris Byczko, RN, MSc
Chris Byczko is an accomplished Registered Nurse and seasoned health informatics professional with over 20 years health industry experience in both the public and private sectors in Canada as well as the USA. Having worked with over 50 hospitals, numerous primary care providers and governing organizations, Chris has helped clients overcome challenges with selecting, implementing and driving adoption of digital health solutions that make the ideal patient and staff experience possible.
More recently Chris held the roles of Senior Manager for the Clinical Inpatient team (including ASAP, BCMA, ClinDoc, Orders & Willow) and was Project Manager for the Barcoding Project in the Epic Program at SickKids for their big bang Epic implementation.
Leena Chacko-Thomas, PMP
With over 10 years of Project Management Experience in a variety of private and public sectors including: laboratories, clinical research and IT operations. Leena is an excellent communicator, capable of facilitating relationships with multi-background stakeholders.
Currently, Leena is a Project Manager responsible for the coordination, management and guidance of various IMT projects at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Leena managed the deployment and testing of thousands of devices, equipment and infrastructure for the Epic implementation.
Bohdan Sadovy, PMP, Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Bohdan is a healthcare professional with extensive experience working in complex, multi-vendor and multi-client environments with proven ability to engage and develop multi-disciplinary teams to achieve top performance. Having a Medical Degree combined with information systems education allows Bohdan to bring clinical perspectives to technology implementations. Bohdan also has extensive experience working and interacting with clinicians and transforming their practice utilizing information technology, workflows and process improvements and education.
Currently, Bohdan is a Senior Manager Epic and IT Implementations at SickKids and played a key role with the deployment of Beaker, Radiant, OpTime, Anesthesia and Data Innovations Lab Instruments Manager for the Epic Implementation.
