In celebration of International Women’s Day, join us at our Chapter Meeting on March 24th to hear from a panel of leaders share their thoughts on success, and full inclusion of women in leadership.

We’ll be discussing successes and challenges women in leadership face, and actions individuals and organizations can take to increase the representation and belonging of women in leadership. What is the impact of allyship? Policy? Sponsorship? And how might we remove extra barriers that women face? What is the PMs role as leaders in reducing bias and creating an inclusive environment of excellence and belonging?

Panelist: Emma Da Silva

As the Vice President of Marketing and Operations for Microsoft Canada, Emma oversees all business processes and marketing efforts in Canada. She is a key member of the executive team and a driving force in our public image, helping Canadians understand our mobile first, cloud first transformation.

Emma joined Microsoft Canada in 1994 with a degree in Accountancy from the University of Waterloo and later earned her Certified Management Accountant designation. She continues to have a long, successful career including numerous roles in the Canadian subsidiary across Finance, Sales, and Marketing. Her past roles include; Chief Financial Officer, Director of Sales for Mid Markets, Director of the Microsoft Office Division, and Director of Finance. She's led exciting initiatives like the launch of Office 2003, 2007, and 2010 in addition to Office 365 – driving the shift to a cloud first, mobile first world.

When she's not working, Emma enjoys spending time with her husband and two children Brianna and Brayden.

 

Moderator: Christine Blair, PMP

Christine-Blair.jpgChristine graduated from Engineering Physics, Electrical Option, of Queen’s University. She has worked in transportation construction for 9 years, most notably on major light rail projects in Canada. Christine’s career has brought her across Canada, living and working in Vancouver, Ottawa, and Toronto for SNC-Lavalin’s Rail & Transit Engineering business. As a Project Engineering Consultant, she applies her leadership, systems thinking and human centered design principles to complex projects.

In her spare time, she is passionate about facilitating and enabling thoughtful, impactful conversations that support careers in engineering, especially for women. She is an active volunteer for many established organizations, including PMI's DEI Working Group, Society of Women Engineers, SCWIST, and can also be found leading and supporting the launch of various startup initiatives. She's always happy to chat about visioning and strategy workshops, building inclusive companies, making processes easier, and facilitating change.

Panelist: Gurjit Mann Toor, BSc Computer Science, PMP

Gurjit Mann Toor is an owner at PnG Builders, Manager at TC Energy, Board Member at Chamber of Commerce, Board Member at Project Management Institute SAC, Entrepreneur, Speaker, Artist.

Gurjit is always on the lookout to expand her horizons and use her experiences to build breadth, perspective and foresight into both her personal and professional life. She has gained valuable lessons from growing up surrounded by entrepreneurs, finding herself as the only woman in computer science lecture theatres, being the only person of color in most of her corporate meetings, and starting businesses in construction and family fitness. Whether it's about building fluidity and inquisitiveness into your life, navigating the unpredictable behaviors of those in your circle of influence, or finding the powerful lesson behind every "adversity" that you think defines you, she offers some interesting and unconventional perspectives!

Latasha has been recognized for being a Next Generation Leader, LinkedIn Pro, Millennial Career Strategist, and achieved several Top Woman in Retail all under the age of 35. For the past 8 years, as a CEO of the Modern Millennial, she has helped thousands of professionals achieve career success through multi-generational career coaching focused on resume development, interview preparation, salary negotiation, recruitment strategy development, and executive coaching. With a strong passion for developing professionals to uncover their untapped potential, she teaches her clients to understand their purpose, power, and passion in their careers.
