Biography:
Joe Ogilvie
Joe Ogilvie is a transformative leader at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in the construction industry. He brings 16 years of professional experience in systems optimization, green building and real estate development and finance. He has the unique ability to synthesize the technical functions of building MEP systems, structure and envelope with the pro forma constraints required to deliver buildings characterized by superior NOI/sf and NAV/sf with lower risk and environmental impact.
As the National Director of High-Performance Buildings at Turner Construction, Joe maximizes value by making new and existing buildings high performance. These buildings integrate and optimize on a life-cycle basis all major high-performance attributes, including energy conservation, environment, safety, security, durability, accessibility, cost-benefit, productivity, sustainability, and occupant productivity. Through convening the major project stakeholder perspectives – owner, architect, major consultants, FM, major trade partners and others, Joe is able to mobilize the required resources, capabilities and expertise to customize and deliver preconstruction programs that set up projects for seamless execution.
Joe also brings his expertise to educate and inspire the next generation of industry professionals as a lecturer at Schulich School of Business’ Brookfield Centre for Real estate, and as an instructor for Project Management at the University of Toronto. Joe delivers powerful, dynamic, and engaging lessons that help develop management and communication skills teaches the implementation of strategy and change and provides insight into the possibilities of Real Estate and Construction into the future.
In 2002, Joe earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics at Morehouse College.
