If you did not know, over the summer PMI® released the 7th Edition of one of the most anticipated standards in project management. Missed it? You can download it from PMI's website and join us at our monthly meeting to clear up any confusion and questions. More importantly, understand how the updated guide is going to change in your life.
This presentation will provide you with an overview of the evolution of the PMBOK® Guide including PMI's new principles-based ANSI Standard for Project Management featuring a system for value delivery and benefits realization together with twelve (12) common principles guiding projects globally. We will also introduce you to the new eight (8) project performance domains supported by models, methods, and artifacts not to mention we will discuss the importance and focus placed on tailoring.
Finally, for those of you wondering about the impact of the 7th Edition on the PMP® exam, we will review a mapping of the Guide to the new PMP® Exam content.

Sylvie Edwards PMP®, CMP, MCPM, STDC, FPMAC
Sylvie has been involved in Project Management in several industries for the past 25 years. She started like most, accidentally, and loved it enough to devote the rest of her career to it. Sylvie previously worked for a top 5 consulting firm, where she oversaw projects in the IT, Banking, Health, Government and Securities sectors as well as a Manager in the Risk Management practice.
Sylvie went on to establish her own consulting practice assisting organizations in establishing processes, strategies, and developing methodologies. She was instrumental in the development of methodologies for the creation of PMOs as well as for the evaluation, assessment and review of projects in peril. Sylvie also worked on the establishment of a Project Maturity model for both practitioner and organization.
Sylvie is teaching at both Durham College and Fleming College. She is a frequent lecturer, presenter and blogger on all things related to project management. Sylvie's involvement with PMI® is long standing including over 12 years on the Board of Directors of a local Chapter where she led initiatives in education, mentoring and held the role of President for two terms.
For this presentation, Sylvie comes to us with her unique perspective of the PMBOK® Guide, having “dissected” the previous five versions in order to enable the development of different course materials for both PMP® certification and post-graduate programs.
Frank W. Townson, PMP, PMI-RMP, PRINCE2, PRINCE2 Agile, CCMP
Frank has over 34 years public sector experience with Industry Canada, Treasury Board and Foreign Affairs Canada plus, following his retirement, a further 16 years of consulting and training experience.
He holds the PMP, PMI-RMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner and Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) certifications.
He is also a PMI-ATP certified PMP Exam Prep Instructor and a certified PRINCE2 Instructor. Frank has a Masters in Public Administration from Carleton University and a Bachelors from Laurentian University.
